The LuLu Group has signed an MOU with Malaysia’s Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), the world’s most successful land development and resettlement agency, for the establishment of LuLu Hypermarkets in Malaysia. The memorandum was signed by the Director General of FELDA, Y. Bhg. Datuk Faizoull Ahmad and Mr. Yusuff Ali M.A., Managing Director, LuLu Group International.
It was signed at LuLu Hypermarket, Mushriff Mall, Abu Dhabi, where the Malaysian Prime Minister Y.A.B. Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Tan Sri Hj. Mohd Isa Abdul Samad – Chairman of FELDA, and other delegates from FELDA had come for a visit. The Prime Minister was briefed by Yusuff Ali about various sections of the Hypermarket including products from Malaysia. The Malaysian PM was highly impressed with the variety of products available at the hypermarket.
The proposed locations for the establishment of LuLu Hypermarket in Malaysia are Kota Bharu Kelantan, Bukit Katil Malacca, Ipoh Perak, Nilai Icon City Negeri Sembilan, and Shah Alam Selangor. Other locations are also being surveyed. FELDA is also interested in developing other potentially strategic areas such as the Klang Valley, Johor Bharu and Penang.
LuLu Hypermarket hopes to begin operations in Malaysia by early 2016 and this will add value to the Malaysian market by introducing the unique concept of Halal Hypermarkets. New halal products as well as FELDA SME products will be promoted in the LuLu Hypermarket chains in Malaysia and the Middle East.
