Sir Edward Garnier starts the Royal Aero Club 3Rs Trophy air race at Stoughton Airfield
Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, attended the Royal Aero Club 3Rs (Records Racing and Rally Association) Trophy air racing day at Stoughton Airfield on Saturday 7th May 2016. The Royal Aero Club Records racing and Rally Association (known as The 3Rs) oversees handicap air racing, British and World aviation records and formal air rallies.
The weekend’s racing was the first weekend of air racing this year. Edward Garnier, a founder member of the Leicestershire Aero Club “Air Race Starters Association”, was delighted to start and end proceedings at Saturdays Beverly Snook Memorial Trophy race, waving each aircraft off and over the finishing line with the Union Flag.
Sir Edward said: “It was a fun day and very exciting to see some of the country’s finest amateur racing pilots competing in the air race flying in fair weather and foul. There was plenty of excitement and a good but friendly competitive spirit.”
