Navadisha Comes to London


An evening of celebrations would prevail in The Nehru Centre, London where South Asian Dance in the UK would be celebrated by some of the finest practitioners of the  field. . . . reports Asian Lite News

The Navadisha 2016 pre-conference would be taking place on the 17th of May at the Nehru Centre, London. This event is free for one and all to enjoy and take part in the enlightening discussion about South Asian Dance forms in the UK. This pre-conference is a prelude to the Navadisha conference which would be held in Birmingham from 20th to 22nd May 2016.

CaptureThe presenter for the evening would be Chitra Sundaram. The subject of discussion would be the importance and relevance of traditional south Asian dance forms in Contemporary UK. It would also look at the developments and achievements of dance since the establishment of the first Navadisha in 2000.

The programme would have been incomplete without actual dance performances. Thus, performances have been queued up for the evening by ace dancers Hiten Mistry, Parbati Chaudhury, Divya Kasturi and Shane Shambhu. These performances would give a glimpse of Bharatnatyam, Kathak and contemporary free style dancing. The performance would also be followed by a Q/A session.
