Shahnaz Husain speaks at the launching of the Innovative Entrepreneurship and Skill development Program at MANAS… .reports Asian Lite
The Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills (MANAS), under the Government of India, launched its Innovative Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Programme at the Indian Islamic Cultural Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on Tuesday 29th March,2016. The Programme was launched by Dr. Najma A. Heptulla, the Hon’ble Minister of Minority Affairs, Government of India. It was a high profile gathering of senior government officials and business leaders.
Dr. Najma Heptulla addressed the gathering first, followed by Shahnaz Husain, the pioneer of vocational beauty training in India, who said that Skill Development is of great importance for a developing country like India. During her address, Shahnaz Husain also emphasized that India would be an Economic power to reckon with if each one of us is skilled.
Skill development creates employment opportunities, reduces poverty and boosts economic growth.
She also said that her organization is partnering State Governments in Skill Development Projects. According to her Skill Development is an ideal model of earning livelihood. In West Bengal around 30,000 under-privileged women have been trained and 74% are earning about Rs.4,500/- per month.
She said that she had trained housewives in Beauty Skills so that they could earn and support their family by starting their own business at their residence, thereby earning money for rent and related expenses. In this way, apart from earning, they could also be with their family and take care of the children, giving them a better quality of life and education.
Speaking on Ayurveda, she said, “I marketed India’s 3000 BC civilization in a jar to the Western World.”
