Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan, London’s home of Indian Arts & Culture, is preparing to host three major events. Founders Day, Republic Day & Open Day ….writes Asian Lite News

With over 900 students of Classical Indian Music, Dance, Yoga and Languages, The Bhavan is London’s largest institute for Indian Arts training. Today they will host Founders Day –Sun 31 Jan, 3pm
To celebrate the student’s achievements, the Bhavan presents an annual event to showcase their respective talents and skills. Everything from Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi dance to Sitar, Tabla, Vocals, Violin will be presented in an extravaganza of colour and rhythm. Audiences will be treated to a delicious Indian vegetarian dinner after the performances. Students who have achieved their diplomas will also receive their certificates.
Republic Day – Wed 3 Feb, 6.30pm
National Republic Day of India is a day to remember when the Indian constitution came into being in 1950, completing the countries transition towards becoming an independent republic. The Chairman and the Executive Committee at The Bhavan invite the public to celebrate this memorable day with messages from the High Commissioner of India, our Chief Guest, Mr Navtej Singh Sarna, cultural programmes featuring our top students of Classical Music & Dance preceded by Indian snacks. This event is free to the public and all are welcome.
Open Day – Sat 20 Feb, 10am – 2pm

Back by popular demand after nearly 1000 people attended The Bhavan’s last Open Day in the autumn Open Day at The Bhavan will feature Taster Classes & Indian Street Food. Taster Classes will be available in 3 styles of Indian classical dance, various classical music including Tabla, Mridangam, Karnatic Violin, Flute, Vocals and Vina. Try a language class in Bengali, Hindi, Tamil and Sanskrit. First come First Serve, All ages are welcome, entry is free of charge.
The Bhavan continues with 22 courses in Indian Classical Dance, Music, Yoga, Languages and Art & Archaeology. Open classes are available in most of the above subjects.
