At the annual British 10K marathon, IAHV supporters ran on the iconic route in London  for charitable initiatives. They ran with the belief that together they  can create a peaceful world promoting essential human values. At the 2016 British 10K event participants walked / jogged / ran for IAHV initiatives. IAHV contingent ran alongside 25,000 other runners representing over 700 charities. It was a fun filled atmosphere with live music and supporters present along the entire route. This year, the route covered some of London’s famous and iconic sites.

Sharing her  experience as a project lead, Deepa Shukla , volunteer of the IAHV said, ‘’The IAHV-UK British 10K, is a project that is very close to my heart.  Having led the project for the last two years, I have really had the opportunity to understand the core values of IAHV.  It has been a privilege to support the IAHV initiatives and through the British-10K we have endeavoured as a team to increase awareness of IAHV and the outcomes of our projects.  Every year the IAHV-UK British 10K has grown.’’

Some of the IAHV runners claimed calmness, clarity and focus can all be achieved through regular yoga and meditation. This is the essence of some of the programmes run by IAHV which are Peace building  (Transforming the minds and hearts of all in conflict zones) , Manage your Mind (Reduce stress, anxiety and depression with local GPs) , Disaster Relief  (Re-build communities in disaster struck areas), Prison Smart ( Create a stress-free, violence-free society) , Breathe Smart (Integrate individuals back into society), Gift-a- Smile – (Create a better future for children by supporting building schools and providing educational facilities) , Read Library (Educate and empower children through education) and Sri Lanka Children (Support orphan children in SriLanka).

In conclusion Deepa said, ‘’My message to everyone is the IAHV-UK British 10K Run is a fun yet fantastic platform through which we can all contribute to achieving a stress-free, violence-free society.  ‘’
