Woking based mumpreneur Sonal Sher launches handmade chutneys: eINDIE
A Desi mumpreneur is the toast of London business circle as the world gears up to celebrate Women’s Day. Amidst school run and a busy schedule, Woking based mumpreneur Sonal Sher launches a range of chutneys and relish in the brand name – eINDIE.
The launch event was held at Tante Marie Restaurant in Woking. Lord Dolar Popat, a Conservative member of House of Lords and a successful businessman was the Chief Guest. The Mayor of Woking Cllr Derek McCrum, the Mayoress and Cllr Graham Cundy (St John’s) joined as special guests.
Mrs Sher, a mum of two was one of the beneficiaries of Start-up Woking a few years ago and has gained tremendously from the help and advice received from them. Her first customers were fellow mums at school who were her first tasters as well and encouraged her by giving positive feedback about the product.
“Sonal’s enthusiasm, energy and personality shines through in her product. I have no doubt of her success. My best wishes to her.” Mayor of Woking Cllr Derek McCrum
“The word Chutney is of Indian origin but chutney as we know it here in the UK does not exist in India”, says Sonal.
“I am delighted to see young mums like Sonal coming forward and making use of the various schemes and opportunities created by our government. Having been a small business myself I know how difficult it is to get to the launch stage. I wish Sonal continued success and hope she grows her business from strength to strength.” – Lord Dolar Popat, Conservative peer & Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy for Rwanda & Uganda
Speaking of her journey she said: “I was born and brought up in India but after living in the UK for 17 years now, consider this home. The idea for this product materialized when I made a few chutneys as part of a taster session. I had been experimenting with fusion food and incorporating Indian flavours in Western dishes or vice versa and the chutneys reflected that.
eINDIE chutneys and relish reflect the variety of food I like where different flavours and tastes come together. They are designed to make every day meals exciting, provide a boost of flavour to every day cooking and in can be used in most cuisines. They reflect the best of British and Indian flavours brought together harmoniously.
“It has been an amazing journey so far and satisfying to see Sonal build her business bit by bit. Having undergone a forced exodus from her home in Kashmir as a child on 03.03.1990, Sonal’s journey of courage and perseverance gives hope to many others trying to rebuild their lives. It has been a long journey but 03.03.2016 only remains the first of many milestones ahead for success and victory. We are all very proud of Sonal,” said Lakshmi Kaul, Friend & Political Activist.
The launch saw the showcasing of four flavours: Mellow Mango chutney, Hot Chilli relish, Sweet Red Onion Marmalade and Hot & Sweet tomato chutney
The students of Tante Marie Culinary Institute worked with Sonal to create and deliver a number of canapés using her chutneys to showcase the range of their use at the launch held at the restaurant on 3rd March.
These four flavours are available at select stockists in Surrey and can be ordered online. PLEASE EMAIL – email@example.com, www.eindie.co.uk, @eIndieChutneys,
