The Bank started its operation on 10th May 2007 and is currently serving over 65,000 customers across seven branches in UK. A key part of the celebration was mesmerising musical performance by the Indian Classical Maestros Pandit Partho Sarothy on ‘Sarod’ accompanied by  Pandit Rajkumar Misra on  ‘Tabla’.

The event was graced by esteemed customers of the bank, members of the Association of Indian Bank’s in UK, Staff members and their families.

Ms Usha Ananthasubramanian, Managing Director & CEO of the Parent Bank in India and Chairperson of PNBIL extended her heartiest congratulations, via a video message, to all for being a part of the PNBIL Group and unwaveringly contributing in its growth. She further thanked the London team, for shaping their organisation into an embodiment of good service, proficiency, and heritage which the bank will continue to carry forward, partnering in the growth of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director & CEO, Mr Antanu Das thanked the guests for joining the Foundation Day celebration of PNBIL. He expressed his excitement on taking charge of PNBIL in London, the financial hub of the World in a period of considerable challenge for all banks. Speaking about the great opportunities and challenges, Mr Das said: “The banks have been instrumental in contributing towards economic development and service to the society and the expectations from the banks post financial crisis make the role of all those involved in the banking sector ever more important. I am hopeful that PNBIL can play a key role in helping meet these significant challenges.”

Mr Das further commented “In UK, we have set out to be a trusted name amongst the South Asian community and have grown progressively as a challenger bank. In the coming years, we hope to further grow our customer base and services to become the one of the leading Indian Origin banks in the UK. The bank believes in innovation and in good customer service, and accordingly keeps upgrading its products and services to meet the requirement of its customers.” He proudly explained that the bank already has a range of products such as International Debit Cards, Retail and Corporate internet banking, attractive interest rates, Small Business Accounts and NRI Account Services, and offers free remittance for its customers to any Punjab National Bank branch in India.

Addressing the staff and their families, present at the celebration, he highlighted that at Punjab National Bank International Limited, it has been a family like environment for the staff members who get ample opportunities to enhance their banking knowledge and skills. He thanked all the staff present for their hard work and good performance.

Finally commenting upon the support the Bank has received from its customers, during its 10 years of growth Mr Das commented “We are thankful to all our service users and customers for their continued support and, patronage. We are committed to ensuring that we continue to be worthy of your support and trust.”

The event ended with a vote of thanks by Mr Sadananda Nayak, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of the Bank. Punjab National Bank (International) Limited (PNBIL) was incorporated in UK on 13th April 2006 and registered with the Companies House in England & Wales under No. 5781326. PNBIL was authorized by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) on 13th April 2007 (Vaisakhi Day and exactly 116 years after PNB was incorporated) to conduct Banking Business in the UK. PNB is one of the largest banks in India and serves to more than 90 million customers through more than 7000 branches.
