Conservative candidate for Mayor of London, Zac Goldsmith, visits Shree Swaminarayan Mandir at Kingsbury and Shree Swaminarayan Temple at Willesden…reports Asian Lite news
Zac in a FB post says: Thank you to all at Swaminarayan Mandir – Kingsbury and Shree Swaminarayan Temple – Willesden for the warm welcome you gave me earlier today.
As the election date approaches, candidates are visiting religious places and community centres to interact with the electorate.
Earlier Zac launched his blueprint for London business, pledging to use the platform as Mayor to:
- Work with Local Government and Westminster to get the best possible deal for business
- Support London’s businesses to evolve from start-ups to scale-up
- Train the talent businesses need to thrive
- Harness the creativity of the Business Community to make London even greater still
On a visit to TechCity UK, Zac talked about his plans to invite London’s most innovative Tech businesses to bid for a million pound “Mayor’s Tech Challenge” to help tackle some of the key issues that matter to people who live and work in Greater London.
If elected, Zac will set out specific challenges in the four key areas of his action plan to make Greater London a better city for all Londoners: delivering more homes, better transport, cleaner air, and safer streets.
Competition winners will receive a cash prize and a commitment to help implement their plans. Ideas might include a rental app which cuts out estate agents, saving landlords and tenants hundreds of pounds in fees; a crime reporting and “virtual neighbourhood watch” app or a new algorithm to help constructions companies working on the same development work better together to cut down on freight movements.
And pledging to deliver a ‘TechCity Hall’, Zac will appoint a Chief Digital Officer to devise a Smart City Strategy for London, looking at how we can build in ever more data points to help solve issues that matter to London, from managing traffic flows to public health spending priorities.
Commenting on the launch of his Blueprint for Business, Zac said: “London’s businesses, large and small, make our city great, and as Mayor I’ll make it my business to deliver for them.”
“Last week I launched my Action Plan for Greater London: more homes, better transport, cleaner air and safer streets: key issues that matter to business. Today I’m launching my Blueprint for Business, setting out how I will ensure London’s firms have the support but also the freedom they need to innovate and thrive.”
“There’s a real choice at this election: London is booming. But with a volatile global economy we can’t take that success for granted or put it at risk with four years of Labour’s inaction, infighting and incompetence in City Hall. Only a Conservative mayor, working in partnership with a Conservative Government, can guarantee the growth and stability that underpin our great city.”
