UK Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) inaugurated its website including mobile applications. To mark the occasion a networking dinner evening was organised at St James’ Court, London
The evening was graced with the presence of CA Naveen N D Gupta, President, ICAI, CA Prafulla Chhajed, Vice Presdient, ICAI and CA Shivaji Bhikaji Zaware, Chairman, Accounting Standard Board, ICAI. Various other guests were present during the evening including but not limited to representative from High Commission of India in London, UK Indian Business Council, Confederation of Indian Industry, FICCI, various banks representatives. A large number of members of the Chapter were also present to celebrate the occasion.
The Chairman of the Chapter CA Ajay Kumar Agrawal and Vice Chairman CA Ajay Kumar hosted and warmly welcomed the guests for the evening.
CA Naveen N D Gupta, President ICAI gave insight on the role-played by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in partnering the nation building. He explained how within the 2 years time frame ICAI has given the first financial statement of Indian Railways based on Accrual system of Accounting, a complete change from cash basis of accounting, how ICAI has worked with the Government of India to implement GST and how the training has been provided to more than 3000 professionals to implement VAT in Middle East. He spoke on various efforts and material issued by ICAI on digitization, technology improvement, artificial intelligent. He proudly mentioned that 90% of the women chartered accountants within SAARC region are represented by women chartered accountants from India. Overall ICAI members represents total 10% of the Chartered Accountants in the world. CA Naveen N D Gupta presented a memento to the representative from High Commission of India in London.
CA Shivaji Bhikaji Zaware, Chairman, Accounting Standard Board, ICAI spoke on IFRS implementation in India and various challenges faced by the ICAI and the industry.
The evening was closed with a vote of thanks delivered by CA Ankur Agarwal, member of the Management Committee of the UK Chapter, ICAI. A Special thanks was given to the event sponsors – HDFC, UAE Exchange and Future Bricks.

The representations of the members are but not limited to at the board level as decision maker, middle management level, across on all big practicing firms in UK.
