Members of journalistic fraternity gathered at India Club recently to pay tributes to the deceased veteran journalist Batuk Gathani, in the presence of his family members. President of Indian Journalists Association Ashis Ray recounted his association with him through several years and reiterated that the revival of the organisation was successful due to his determination and efforts.
Vidya Ram outlined Bathuk’s more than 4-decade tenure with The Hindu and also narrated the Ernest Hemingway plane crash story. Amit Roy, past president of IJA and Sanjay Suri have both highlighted the fine personality of Gathani, while Aditi Khanna, Suman Bhuchar, Dr Shiv Pande and Suresh Gupta applauded him as a thorough professional.
Senior journalist Kailash Budhwar and Krishan Ralleigh have accounted their long association with him and his involvement with different publications.
While paying tributes to the departed soul, Deputy High Commissioner Dinesh Patnaik has emphasised on the crucial role Indian journalists in the UK play in building and maintaining the relations between the two countries.
