The British capital has been named as the best city in the world for students by new international rankings. Last year’s winning city was Montreal. London overtook Montreal in this year’s ratings based on a survey….reports Asian Lite News

The ratings are based on factors such as the number of top universities in a city, the local jobs market, the diversity of the culture and the quality of life.

London scored poorly on one of the measures – affordability. But it ranked highly when the survey came to getting jobs at the end of courses, as well as being an international city with high levels of tolerance and diversity.

The ranking of university cities, rather than the quality of institutions, is produced by the analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds. They, in the previous year, put Montreal on top.

Paris, which topped the list in 2016, ranked fifth this year.

The results and rankings are based on a survey of the views of 50,000 students, and these comparisons are an attempt to quantify some of the attractions and disadvantages of cities for students.
