WANTED: Santas For Festive Dash in Birmingham

Hundreds of Santas are needed for the most festive fundraising event of the year, the popular Acorns Santa Run which returns on Saturday 8 December….reports Asian Lite News

The 5k or 2k dash in Birmingham City Centre will see hundreds of people of all ages – from babies to grandparents and even family dogs don Santa outfits to raise money for Acorns and its vital work caring for life limited and life threatened children in the West Midlands.

Acorns is currently the UK and the world’s largest children’s hospice charity, as measured by the number of children it is helping to care for.   It costs nearly £10 million a year to run Acorns services providing care for children and support for their families. The charity relies heavily on donations to fund the majority of its activities.

Registration for the event which this year takes place around the grounds of Aston University is now open and Acorns is hoping for record entries to mark the charity’s 30th anniversary.

Sam Greatrex, Senior Events Officer at Acorns, said: “Last year’s event attracted a phenomenal 600 people and we really want to surpass that to mark this significant milestone for Acorns.”

“The fundraising and sponsorship that events like the Santa Run raise are absolutely vital to help us continue to provide the services and support our children and families need. Please join us to help make this an extra special Christmas for those we care for”.

by . All participants will also be given automatic free entry to the National Sealife Centre as a thank you for taking part.  And, as part of our ‘Super Santa’ scheme anyone who raises £100 or more in sponsorship will be able to claim back their registration fee.

Sam Greatrex added: “There’s lots for the whole family to see and do on the day, including festive entertainment so all we need now is for lots of speedy Santas to come along and make this the best year yet!”

Early bird entry before 31 October is just £10 for Adults and £5 for children from 5-15. This includes a free Santa suit and medal. Entry for children ages 0-4 is free and for family dogs, £2.
