Sikh leader’s last rite performed in Pakistan

The last rites of Sikh activist, Charanjeet Singh, who was gunned down a day earlier, were performed in Nizampur, Attock on Wednesday morning….reports Asian Lite News

 by . Charanjeet Singh, a Sikh community leader and human rights activist, was shot dead in broad daylight by assailants in Pakistan’s Peshawar.

The incident happened at Scheme Chowk, Budhbir area of Peshawar, when Singh was sitting in his shop, Pakistan media reported.

The attackers have not yet been identified.

The 42-year old Singh’s body was placed inside Gurudwara Bhai Joga Singh in Peshawar, which later taken to Attock for cremation.

Charanjeet Singh was a well-known figure not only in the Sikh Community but at large for his work on social and religious harmony.

He was a peace activist and member of Peshawar Peace Committee. He was the founding member of Pakistan Interfaith Harmony.
