Breaking Barriers Through Performing Arts – COVID Kartavyam


The fight against Coronavirus transcended barriers, both geographic and creative.

Covid Kartavyam, conceived and executed by Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence had dancers from Britain, India, the Netherlands and the USA who presented an impressive video message of strength and perseverance for the global community.

The song, sung by Geetika and Abhi in 9 Indian languages (Hindi, Assamese, Bhojpuri, Kashmiri, Kannada, Konkani, Magahi, Maithili and Saurashtra) stressed on observing self-care, social distancing, reflection and meaningful use of time. Through classical dancing, the dancers coming together from different geographic locations on the virtual platform demonstrated that collectively the world can bravely face adversities and get through a pandemic such as Coronavirus.

Dancers Sabrina Madabhushi (USA), Yashodhra Sabu (India), Shaariva Teredesai (Netherlands), Manju Sunil, Deepa Nair, and Ragasudha Vinjamuri and child artiste Kaavyajhari Rapatwar (Britain) have presented Bharatanatyam and Mohiniattam on the lyrics contributed by Dr Amoolya Prasad- GP, Dr N Vishwanath- Consultant Radiologist, Miss Bernadette Pereira- Consultant Surgeon, Dr TS Chandrasekar- Gastroenterologist, Dr Shafalica Bhan Kotwal, Consultant Psychiatrist, Mr Vikas Kumar, Speciality Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeon, Prof. Dr Diwakar Sukul- Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Mr Rajiva Ranjan Das- Colorectal Surgeon and Dr Ephia Yasmin- Consultant Gynaecologist, which was music-directed by Abhi SY, tune-set by Ragasudha Vinjamuri and edited by Sushil Rapatwar.

The dance concluded with a message of hope and positivity that we can fight the effects of pandemics together, whether physical, mental, or emotional, and is being appreciated by the viewers.
