Manchester is visiting India’s key IT clusters this month to meet some of the country’s fastest growing technology companies in a drive to attract India’s top firms to the North of England, build new and existing relationships within the market and showcase the city as a leading business destination.

MIDAS, Manchester’s inward investment agency and Deloitte India, are hosting prelude sessions to Deloitte Technology Fast 50 in Delhi and Bangalore, between 10 – 14th November to identify top performing companies in India’s thriving IT industry. MIDAS is also offering India’s leading SMEs and start-ups seeking collaborative opportunities in the UK, the chance to win one of twoManchester establishment packages of support worth over £25,000 or ₹2m.

One of Europe’s largest tech clusters, Manchester has a strong digital infrastructure which attracts companies wanting to establish themselves in one of the city regions flourishing hubs including MediaCityUK. At the centre of the Northern Powerhouse, Manchester is driving innovation across the region and is an ideal business and trade destination for Indian companies to get a foothold in the UK marketplace.

India is firmly at the heart of the Greater Manchester Internationalisation Strategy and it is one of the region’s key markets for foreign direct investment and Manchester is proving to be a popular business destination for Indian companies.

Indian organisations with established operations in the city include Vistaar Productions, State Bank of India, HCL Technologies and Aegis.

Rajiv Sundar, Partner, Deloitte India, said: “The Technology Fast50 program recognizes the fastest growing technology businesses in India based on their percentage revenue growth over the past three financial years. It is a recognition of both their growth and ambition. It gives me great pleasure that Manchester is hosting interaction events for Deloitte’s Technology Fast50 2016 winners.  This series of events is to provide a view to the Tech ventures in India on the possibilities and opportunities available to them through using Manchester as a launch platform for their Global ambitions.”

Earlier this year MIDAS and Deloitte delivered a series of events in the city as part of a ‘Make in India, Innovate with Manchester’initiative targeted at professionals and academics from creative, digital and tech, advanced manufacturing, life sciences and aviation sectors.

Sir Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council, said: “India is a critical market for Manchester and through focused activities such as the Fast 50, we hope to attract some of India’s most exciting companies to Manchester.

“Manchester has a world-class talent pool from top universities and provides access to markets at a good cost point. With a selection of digital and creative hubs across the city; from university-backed incubators, science parks and commercial accelerators to collaborative working spaces and a robust customer base, the region provides the ideal environment to support fast-growth companies to expand and internationalise.”

Tim Newns, chief executive officer, MIDAS, said: “The companies who win the Manchester Fast 50 competition will have the opportunity to work alongside international giants such as IBM, Microsoft and Cisco. Manchester being the UK’s IoT demonstrator site, will see the city deploy smart city technologies and our status as a tech hub is being further strengthened.”

The Manchester city region prides itself on its vibrant culture which is enhanced by a large Indian diaspora, and numerous Indian businesses established across the landscape include those from the creative, digital and tech sector.

Tim Newns concluded: “Manchester is excited to be working with Deloitte once again to meet India’s leading tech firms. We also look forward to bringing a high-level delegation to India in coming months as well as welcoming the competition winners to one of Europe’s leading business cities.”
