After surprising everyone with his debut single Give My Love A Brand New Name kickboxer turned singer Ali Jacko is set to deliver another knockout blow with his brand new track You Are The Reason. . . . reports Asian Lite News
The London based singer/songwriter’s second single is a beautifully crafted rock ballad about loving someone unconditionally and contains heartfelt sentiments loaded with emotion. The devoted dad was inspired to write the song by the close connection he shares with his children and that is why he is releasing the song in the lead up to Father’s Day in June. The song will be accompanied by an eye-catching music video directed by an acclaimed filmmaker and will be the next step on the journey for the rising singing star. Jacko took a break from an increasingly busy schedule to speak about the new song, forthcoming plans, future plans, inspirations and more.
How do you look at your short time in music?
Music is still very new to me. I jumped into the deep end last year with my debut single and have really enjoyed that challenge. I had a wonderful response to my debut single and met a lot of great people, from those who supported the songs to big names in the music industry. All of this has motivated me to work really hard and create music that will be enjoyed by listeners around the world. I feel like this is the beginning of a beautiful journey.
What was the experience of releasing your debut single Give My Love A Brand New Name like?
It was a huge learning experience. I have really enjoyed the experience of learning about this industry from song writing and recording to shooting a music video and doing promotions. I am pleased with what we created with my debut single and am looking forward to sharing more great music with the world. I hope to inspire others along the way.
What has been the best part on your musical journey?
I think the best part of this journey is the well wishers I have met along the way. Like any field there will always be critics, but it’s important to focus on those who want the best for you and I have been blessed to have a lot of people who have faith in me. I hope to repay that faith with great music.
What inspired your second single You Are The Reason?
Love is the most universal emotion. Whether it is for your children, life partner or doing your dream job, love is something we all feel. I wanted to write a song about unconditional love. The ones I love the most unconditionally are my children so it was inspired by them, but the emotions are universal and I hope others find a strong connection to the song also.
Can you tell us about the song?
You Are The Reason is a very simple song with deep meaning. It’s a rock inspired ballad about love. It is about how much I love my daughter and what she means to me. It’s about unconditional love inspiring you to great heights. I believe it has simple emotions, but is a powerful song.
Who are you hoping connects with the song?
Like all my songs I am hoping everyone makes some sort of connection with it. The funny thing is that even though I wrote the song for my daughter it actually applies to all women and girls as all are daughters no matter how old they are. The song will off course connect to men who have daughters. It’s a universal sentiment of love. The lyrics are very emotional and I have attempted to sing them from my heart and the musical arrangement is simple so the sentiments can shine. The beauty of the song is that the more you listen to it, the more meaning you will find.
What was the biggest challenge of putting the song together?
(Laughs) The challenge of anything that I do is meeting up to my own standards. I am constantly fighting myself to be the best that I can be. I worked really hard on the song. The challenge was actually to keep the musical arrangement simple but still catchy and effective. I love the music we have created, but this song is about the heartfelt lyrics and emotion. So I guess the challenge was to have a less is more approach and making that impactful.
You are releasing the song in the lead up to Father’s Day why is that?
Like I said the track was inspired by my children and my two daughters in particular. I feel sometimes father’s are forgotten. There are so many devoted dads out there and this song is a tribute to them.
How much do you love being a dad?
I live for my children. They have made me into the man I am today. I feel energised and inspired when I am around them. (Laughs) Like all parents there are days it can get stressful, but I feel that is all a part of the joy. I am really proud of my children and love them all unconditionally.
Can you tell us about your music video?
For my first video we went really big with high profile locations and Jodie Kidd starring in it. For this song I wanted to create an emotional father daughter story. I wanted the video to be meaningful. I have roped in talented filmmaker Andrew Martin, whose debut movie has been doing incredibly well at film festivals around the world and winning awards. I star opposite my two actual daughters in it. I think everyone will find the video very heart warming.
What can we expect next from you?
Lots more great music! I have some great songs and am looking forward to releasing them on my album in August 2016. I hope to show off my range as a singer and songwriter. Then the next step after that will be to hit the live circuit. I have received a lot of offers to perform live, but I want to hone my craft and release my album first. I am also looking to develop new talent and have built state of the art music studios in London to make this happen. There are some other projects including a film, but I will talk about that another day.
Which of your unreleased songs are you most excited about?
I am excited about all of my songs! If I wasn’t excited about them I wouldn’t release them quite honestly. I have been lucky enough to work with some great musical talents in India, UK and USA. Together we have created some big tracks.
Who would you love to collaborate with in the future?
I have seen other artists wanting to collaborate with big names and I was thinking the same at one point. But the truth from my heart is that I believe I don’t have to collaborate and don’t want to do it all myself. I like being around talented like-minded people. I believe in myself and my music and the rest is down to the listeners. I would rather work with talented newcomers and one thing is for sure, if I do become big I will still work with new talent rather than people with name. When like-minded people come together in a studio anything is possible. I would rather work with talented people who don’t have a big name, but work hard to make good music. I have been in the music industry for less than eight months and have already been able to work with top award-winning musicians including big names in UK and America.
If you could learn any instrument which would it be?
(Laughs) If I could have it my way I would learn all the instruments! If I had to choose one it would be guitar and piano. I am learning to play guitar and piano. If the piano is the king of instruments then the guitar is perhaps the coolest.
Why should we pick up your latest single You Are The Reason?
I could give you a hundred reasons to legally download the track, but ultimately I hope it forms a connection to people’s hearts. I feel confident when people hear You Are The Reason they will feel connected to it. I feel very touched whenever I hear it! I am confident this song will touch people’s hearts too.
