Chandigarh witnessed the launch of a new club, Right Your Story that assigns a novel meaning to the art and skill of reading. Right Your Story took shape as an idea in the minds of Suditi Jindal and Navjot Dhillon while the two discussed their respective readings with each other. They found an improvement in their own knowledge and technique of writing as a consequence of their interactions. From their personal experiences, Suditi and Navjot have come to believe that a good writing and a healthy discussion should trigger an expression of the self and a greater knowledge of the self. They chiseled further their idea, to develop it into the concept of Right Your Story, which is also the first programme to be launched by Philyra Training and Consultancy.

This brought them to the question of the venue for hosting such readings and discussions. A creative exercise requires a conducive ambience. While writing can happen in solitude, discussion and deliberation need a bustling environment. Thus, the duo approached The Hedgehog Café, the first book café of the city, with their proposal, and the project took off.

The first event a curtain-raiser to Right Your Story which was promoted only through the social media, attracted many reading and writing aficionados of the city. A good crowd turned up to hear the two authors talk about their own journey of reading, writing, discussing, and discovering. The event opened the registration to their reading and writing club that is developed on the lines of a workshop.

Right Your Story will host expert sessions on writing and publishing, at regular intervals.

Suditi and Navjot have conceptualised the sessions in a manner that involves pre-reading, writing, and reviewing of the participants’ writings on every meeting of the club. The response has been ‘stupendous’, in the words of the writers. They say that contrary to their expectation, both men and women have shown interest in the club, and even working persons are not shying away from taking out time on Wednesday mornings to turn up for the meetings.

Right Your Story will host expert sessions on writing and publishing, at regular intervals. Suditi and Navjot were happy to share that in the coming week, Right Your Story will be hosting at The Hedgehog Café, a nationally acclaimed writer and publisher for an insightful session on reading, writing, and publishing.

Here’s hoping that the calendar of readers in the city is spiced up enough by Right Your Story to nudge them to write their story.
