fossil fuelFossil fuels, which represents over 80 percent of the total international energy demand, will be the main energy source for decades to come, the Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) said in its monthly bulletin, WAM reported.

The international increase in fossil fuel demand (oil, gas and coal) is set to continue, which means that the Middle East region and North Africa, mainly the OAPEC member-states will be the leading countries in this industry, the organisation said in the introduction of the monthly report, excerpts of which were broadcast by the Kuwait News Agency, KUNA.

Oil and gas exporting and importing countries should launch further investments to develop their petroleum facilities to meet the increasing demand while also protecting the environment against pollution, the OAPEC said.

OAPEC countries had taken several measures to limit gas emissions and work-related accidents through applying studies of power quality technology and creating international cooperation in the field.
