“India has been my inspiration. It is where I was born, learned my craft and earned my livelihood. India is my Muse. Her rich culture, the historical legacy of design and crafts have helped chisel out my style. And it is the hands of Indian artisans that have assisted in interpreting my design dreams into beautiful heirlooms that women can cherish,” Shehzad Zaveri of Minwala Jewels explains as he launches a collection in shades of the Tiranga (three shaded flag of India).

“How interesting is a piece of carbon? For that is what a diamond is in its reality, isn’t it? It isn’t only its rarity that gives it the value. Value for jewels, in my opinion, comes when thought, talent, and technique is applied to molten metal and rare stones. This amalgamation of creative designing and innovation then creates a stunning conversation piece, which can only then be called a Jewel.”

For Minawala’s Independence Day collection, I wanted to use colors of Saffron (with a pink tinge), Green, White, Blue and Red. Using traditional elements, giving it a trendy twist, my collection is designed especially for young brides and contemporary women. Keeping the pricing realistic without compromise on quality, I ensured every diamond was ethically mined (with no child labour) involved, as I want to create every piece with inherently positive energies, as an ode to a country in evolution- my India” Shehzad concluded.
