The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development launched the workshop “Preparing Theatrical Actors” on the Abu Dhabi Cultural Centre stage

The Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development launched the workshop “Preparing Theatrical Actors” on the Abu Dhabi Cultural Centre stage.

The workshop will take place over the course of four weeks and will be conducted by theatre director, Faisal Al Darmaki, with the participation of around 30 people from the UAE and other Arab countries belonging to different age groups. The workshop comes within the framework of the Ministry to support creative and talented young people in the fields of culture, arts and literature, in addition to the Ministry’s discovery of new talents in the Emirati theatre scene.

“Under the guidance of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, the ministry seeks, through its events and activities, to provide all kinds of support to talented young people in all cultural, artistic and literary fields with the aim of encouraging UAE youth towards innovation, in addition to the introduction of new talents to the cultural and artistic scene regionally and internationally. This comes within the framework of investing in the efforts and energies of young ones and allowing creative talents to express their abilities and perceptions”, explained Yasser Al-Gergawi, Director of the Cultural Events Department at the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.

“By organising such year-long workshops specialised in the art of theatre, the ministry aims to stimulate young potentials, by embracing, encouraging, developing and supporting theatrical talents,” he added.

“This will ultimately benefit the UAE by providing the theatre scene with a new generation of young talents, capable of completing the journey of former UAE creatives in the field of theatre, and qualifying young people willing to learn more about the art of theatre by giving them a comprehensive overview and providing them with direct contact with the symbols of theatrical art in the state,” Al Gergawi said.

Faisal Al Darmaki, the workshop’s supervisor, expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development for giving him the opportunity to present this workshop, which comes in perfect timing as the theatrical season starts after Ramadan, making it an excellent opportunity for those participating in the seminar to utilise their time during the Holy Month.
