Victoria’s Knickers and Consensual will be presented at Soho Theatre and Macbeth at the Garrick in the new West End REP season from the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT)
A new West End REP season will see East Asian actors Aidan Cheng and Jeffrey Sangalang performing in three exciting productions.
The REP company will be staging the world premiere of Victoria’s Knickers, a comedy following a sassy, young Queen Victoria directed by Ned Bennett; Evan Placey’s Consensual exploring teacher-pupil relationships and the age of consent in the UK and a gender fluid version of Macbeth. The season runs from 22 October to 7 December.
Victoria’s Knickers and Consensual will be presented at Soho Theatre and Macbeth at the Garrick in the new West End REP season from the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT). The NYT champions cultural diversity and provides a platform for aspiring actors to break into the arts sector, paving the way towards a more inclusive industry. More than a quarter of actors who have been in the NYT’s REP company over the past six years are actors of colour, as are 56% of the REP Company this year, 25% of whom are Asian.
Famous REP alumni include Sope Dirisu, recently seen in the Young Vic’s The Brothers Size and in the title role of the RSC’s Coriolanus for which he was nominated for the 2018 Ian Charleston Award, and Seraphina Beh, who was cast in EastEnders a week after being seen in the REP and who won Best Emerging Actress Award at the IARA Awards 2017.
