Did you know there are 33 categories of VIPs in India who don’t get frisked at airports. This revelation occurred because Robert Vadra, husband of Priyanka Gandhi, was recently taken off the list….writes Bikram Vohra
Why was he there in the first place? Why are any of them there? What is the big deal if you raise your arms and let the Security team run that gadget over you.
VIPS are a security risk. They don’t pack their own bags. They have bodyguards who may have guns in their kit. They could carry lighters, matches and other inflammable materials.
Most of them are servants of the people and should show the way not be exempt.
For a nation that understands it is a terrorist target you’d think they would make it mandatory just to set a good example.
What great dignity is lost is you give a few seconds for better safety. I have been to countries where Ministers stand in the cab rank with the rest of their people.
Believe me, your importance is a passing phase.
What is scary is that guy next to me has a bag above my head and no one has checked what’s in it.
And while I am whining about this issue what about that special counter for diplomats and officials at Immigration.
It is 2 in the morning, you are returning after a vacation and you are not rushing for a major conference but you saunter past while fellow Indians with babes in their arms wait in the queue.
Who are you?
