Mayor Boris Johnson’s decision to join the GO Camp splashed on the front pages of all the major newspapers. The Guardian says the charismatic Tory politicians can influence some of the undecided votes. The newspaper adds that the mayor’s decision “is a personal humiliation for the prime minister who had urged Johnson hours earlier in Andrew Marr show to avoid linking arms with Nigel Farage and George Galloway in backing a British exit from the EU.”
The news exposes the rift in the Tory ranks over EU. There is a weekly column by Mr Johnson in The Daily Telegraph and he explains the reasons for joining the Go camp. Surprisingly the newspapers in the US totally ignore the political happenings in this side of the Atlantic. They focussed on the race for the presidential post.
