Local MP Kris Hopkins has hosted a reception at Churchill House in Keighley for members of the local Muslim community to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Mr Hopkins, who serves as Vice Chamberlain to Her Majesty’s Household in the Government, and BME community development worker Ali Akbar cut a cake to mark the occasion.
Commenting afterwards, the Keighley and Ilkley MP said: “It was a great pleasure to be a part of a very special local event in honour of Her Majesty the Queen. She has dedicated her entire adult life to the service of her country and, at all times, has performed her official duties with great dignity and her characteristic personal touch. Most people alive today can only remember a time when Her Majesty was on the Throne and she will be forever a part of her lives. Queen Elizabeth II will undoubtedly go down in history as our country’s greatest monarch and, on the occasion of her 90th birthday, we take great pleasure in wishing Her Majesty many happy returns.”
