Leader of the Opposition Mr. Jeremy Corbyn met High Commissioner of India to UK Mr. Y.K. Sinha at Portcullis House. They discussed various issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was significant as Labour is gaining popularity to replace the Conservative government in the next general elections or a mid-term polls due to the rift in Conservatives over Brexit.

Mr Corbyn is very critical of the Conservative handling of various issues concerning the Indian population especially on immigration and student visas.
In an earlier interview Mr Corby said the Conservative Government has failed to treat its relationship with India as a true partnership.

“The government looks at India as a place to do business in and that’s fine but I’m not sure they fully appreciate that a partnership is something that you have to work two ways on,” he was quoted as saying.
