Large number of residents from all communities took part in a Peace Parade which was led by Bedford Mayor Dave Hodgson, MP Richard Fuller, Bishop of Bedford Richard Atkinson, Bedford Indian Community (BID) President Ram Prasad, Community Engagement Ambassador and Councillor Charan Sekhon, Councillor Colleen Atkins MBE and many charity, community leaders and multi faith Reps.

Parade culminated in the town centre at the Corn Exchange Hall where a special function was held presenting the Indian culture, classical music, dance and significance of Diwali.

Around 1500 people attended this function. The Organising committee said ‘this was the 6th year of this function. Instead of wasting money on fireworks causing noise and environmental pollution, these celebrations help in bringing people closer and prompting integration and harmony. We are overwhelmed by the support and huge interest by all communities and faith groups.’
