Maharashtra Mandal London’s Ganeshotsav concludes on a high note….reports Asian Lite News
Maharashtra Mandal London (MML) celebrated the festival of Ganesha with traditional daily aarti and a full line-up of programmes from 17th to 26th September. This is a 25thmilestone year of Ganeshotsav for MML.
Programmes included poetry recitation, classical music rendition, taal vadya kacheri, mono action, presentation on noted film icon Gulzar, antakshari competition and a vibrant Marathi cultural showcase spanning all ten days.
The event on Saturday, 26th September included cultural showcase during the day by about 60 children titled Bal Darbaar, representing different groups and arts organisations such as Kirti Kala Mandir, Hounslow Kids’ Group, Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence, Rajashree Wakhare’s group from Milton Keynes, among others. They presented songs, dances, Shloka recitation and instrumental pieces.
The evening saw several dignitaries in attendance, including Conservative MP Bob Blackman, Mayor of Brent Cllr. Leslie Jones, First Secretary (Economics) from High Commission of India Shri Saikat Sen Sarma, alongside others. Highlight of the culturals were the presentation by UK Dhol beats, a vibrant Marathi cultural showcase Malhar Wari which had everyone swaying and singing, and an instrumental jugalbandi of Guitar, Tabla and Dholki. The 10-day festivities concluded with immersion of Lord Ganesha’s murty in River Thames traditionally on 27th September, starting at Maharashtra Bhavan with a procession and culminating at Richmond.
