The Chance to Shine Street Cricket Programme run by the Lancashire Cricket Board has been greeted with an overwhelming response after only 2 sessions in Blackburn as huge numbers attended the cricket sessions….reports Asian Lite News
The outdoor cricket participation opportunities have seen 76 children aged 8-15 attend introduction to the game sessions so far.
Both ‘tapeball’ and ‘windball’ matches, accompanied by simple skill development has allowed young participants attending Audley School’s MUGA on Saturday mornings to experience free of charge cricket delivered by qualified cricket coaches from the LCB.
“It is an incredible response and clearly demonstrates that there is huge interest and need for such a programme. We are hoping that many of the children attending these free of charge sessions will be signposted to local clubs and continue to develop a love for the game for many years to come”, said Lead Coach Farouk Hussain
“I am also hopeful that we can increase participation levels further and perhaps even look to expand the programme into other areas of Blackburn and North East Lancashire”, he added.
The Audley School sessions continue every Saturday on Queens Road, Blackburn with School Years 3 & 4 (10:00 – 11:30) and School Years 5, 6 , 7, 8 & 9 (11:30 – 13:00). All equipment is provided and sessions are FREE OF CHARGE.
