India Bazaar is a day-long event organized by the community support group Indian Ladies UK and is an unprecedented celebration of India in the UK. Event is open to all genders and nationalities.
The event features a myriad different concessions and stalls promoting the different states of India and are manned and promoted by Indian migrants in the UK – all members of Indian Ladies in UK (ILUK), a collective of more than 13,000 first generation Indian migrant women living in the UK.
Established in 2015, ILUK began its life as a Social Media group aimed at connecting and empowering its members – helping migrant women find their feet in a new country and, as a consequence, better integrate into their new home.
The group has since become the largest such community group in the country and was even personally felicitated by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Britain in November 2015. We have since connected 1000’s of migrant Indian women in their areas locally and helped the vulnerable women whether its a domestic violence issue or immigration or spouse abandonment. The group has also been active in taking up initiatives to help Indian citizens back home. recently over 30 ladies skydives from 13,000 ft to raise funds for the farmers in India. They successfully raised over £4000 for the initiative.
‘India Bazaar’ is the group’s’ latest initiative and is a platform for members of the group – who vary from stay-at-home moms to professionals in IT, Finance, Tourism, Education and Entertainment.
Stalls on the day will showcase a wide variety of products and services with a uniquely Indian character – from dance to Ayurveda to handicrafts, textiles and cuisine from right across India. There will be face painting and Diya making workshop for the kids.
The event will also feature the first ever musical dance performance of the Indian epic ‘Ramayana’ staged and performed entirely by a cast of women actors.
The event is also backed by a string of prominent organizations, including the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), India’s largest trade body; Lebara Mobile, Zee TV, the Indian High Commission of India and others. ‘India Bazaar’ is a unique opportunity for first generation migrant Indian women in the UK and your presence at the event will be much appreciated.
A footfall of over 500 people is expected as we have already sold 500 tickets to the event.
