Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson releases the IJA Souvenir

The event was attended Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Boris Johnson, his wife Marina Wheeler, High Commissioner of India YK Sinha, his wife Girija Sinha, Lord Swraj Paul, Steven Pound MP, High Commissioner of Bangladesh, former tennis player Vijay Amritraj, industrialist GP Hinduja, founder of Vitabiotics Dr. Kartar Lalvani, besides several dignitaries.

Boris spoke on ‘UK-India relations 70 years after Indian Independence’ and has also released a special brochure commemorating the occasion, edited by Amit Roy.

Addressing the journalists, he said “For the sake of our democracy in both countries I hope you will keep doing what you are doing, that you will speak truth to power and let sunlight disinfect the darkest places in our countries and across the world.”

High Commissioner of India in his closing remarks jovially reminisced his earlier visits to the UK and said he hoped for more cooperation between India and the UK in key strategic issues.

A patriotic classical dance on Sangh Geet was presented by Ragasudha Vinjamuri as a grand finale.
