With her Sri Lankan, oriental and western backgrounds, Jaymini strives to reflect a unique blend of styles in her creations where she works with stone colours on silk, ink on rice paper and acrylic on canvas. Jaymini founded her company ‘JammiArt’ with the objective of introducing different cultural values through art and delivering art projects for people of all ages and backgrounds.

The main objectives of these workshops are improving participant’s patience and enthusiasm, introducing them to different types of art practices, building and promoting a greater understanding of people and their diverse cultural values.

These art workshops are delivered for young people, adults, people with special needs and with NHS patients in various venues such as primary and secondary schools, art centres and communities, art galleries.

Many art forms such as Chinese brushwork painting, Chinese calligraphy, Indian art, Aboriginal art and many other international art forms are effectively used by the talented Jaymini who is keen to create an Art Academy capable of serving a wider community, conduct art camps for children to improve their creativity and work with elderly people to introduce mindfulness through art.

‘Born with Darker Tan’ Jaymini’s latest exhibition at the People’s theatre art gallery Newcastle-upon-Tyne was her attempt to discuss the challenges and discrimination faced by women with dark skin and the regressive ideals that sadly continue to thrive in most parts of South Asia.

As an upcoming artist, Jaymini finds under funding and shortage of opportunities in developing professional artistic practice, creating and sustaining new work are the most challenging obstacles.

However, an artist with unique skills, Jaymini’s work is sure to travel to many galleries nationally and internationally !
