The world’s most famous seagull is getting a Desi version. Kala Sangam, the Bradford-based cultural organisation, will showcase Flights of Fantasy based on Richard Bach’s Jonathan Livingstone Seagull on Saturday, 20th June at 7pm at Ganges Hall (Kala Sangam Arts Centre, St Peter’s House, Forster Square, Bradford BD1 4TY )
Flights of Fantasy explores the struggles of Kanthan, the young man who breaks away from traditional norms to become a great dancer ! Everyone has a fantasy and they fly with it … as does Kanthan!
Being inspired by Richard Bach’s multi-million copy seller book ‘Jonathan Livingstone Seagull,’ Flights of Fantasy explores the perseverance and passion of an artist through the vocabulary of spoken word, dance and music where classical and modern, east and west meet. Shrikant Subramaniam will don the mantle of Kanthan. Others in the programme are Sarah Carter, the somatic movement artist, Vijay Venkat and drummer Arain Sadr.
This will be an evening of innovative classical music and dance at its best.
