Kishan Devani was elected to the Federal Board of the Liberal Democrat Party. This makes Kishan the only British Indian to currently sit on the Board of any political party in the UK. Kishan expressed his huge gratitude to Liberal Democrat members & his supporters, he conveyed his deep sense of humility for being entrusted with such an honour and privilege to be able to serve the Liberal Democrats & the country. Kishan emphasised his undying commitment to put equality, diversity & inclusivity at the heart of the work of rhe Board of the Liberal Democrats.

The Federal Board is the governing body of the Liberal Democrats. It is chaired by the party president, currently Sal Brinton, and includes members of the party-at-large elected every three years in an all-member ballot, as well as representatives from the state parties, MPs, peers, MEPs, and councillors. It is responsible for, co-ordinating and overseeing the implementation of the Party’s strategy and the work of the Federal Party. The Federal Board also has responsibility, at least once per Parliament, for preparing a document outlining the Party’s Strategy, for submission for debate and agreement by Conference.

Some of the individuals the Board membership includes are: the Party President (who chairs it); the Leader and three other Parliamentarians; the chairs of the three state parties; three state party representatives; and 15 members directly elected by party members.
