Maharashtra Mandal London stages Marathi Play Laginghai. . . . reports Asian Lite News
Laginghai, a Marathi play by Ved Productions was staged at Maharashtra Mandal London recently as the first leg of the performances in the UK.
The cast included noted theatre, TV and film artiste Ashok Saraf, Aditi Deshpande, Onkar Raut and Sayali Karlekar. Hum Paanch fame Ashok Saraf, who is famous for his comic roles in about 275 Hindi and Marathi films, played a widower father of a young bachelor who falls in love. His ladylove, played by Aditi Deshpande wants him to discuss their marriage with his son. The humour and the seriousness of both son and father desiring to get married at the same time is the crux of the story.
Played by Onkar Raut, the son’s character brought out how a son wishes his father good company in lonely life, supported by his would- be wife Sayali Karlekar. This is actor Ashok Saraf’s first performance in the UK in his career spanning forty -five years. His 69th birthday was also celebrated amidst his fans and the Executive Committee members of MML, during which a presentation which included wishes from his family and friends was played by young Nandini Shiralkar to surprise him.
The play was also staged at Slough, Kent and Ilford later.
