London’s iconic Mahalakshmi Temple hosts Balajim Bhaje Hum, an event in praise of Lord Venkateswara ….reports Asian Lite News
On the day of Srinivasa Kalyanam( 27/5/2018) at Mahalakshmi temple, East Ham, London a recitalof song/dance dedicated to Lord Venkateswara was held in the auditorium which was attended byabout 200 audience from different communities.The Chief Guests for the event were Mr & Mrs. A.S.Rajan, Minister (Co-ordination), High Commissionof India and Mr & Mrs. Raghavendra Rao, CEO,State Bank of India,UK, who also honoured theartistes.
The Dances held the audience spell-bound. Deepa Viswamohan and her son (Kuchipudi on Annamacharya Kirtana ,Govinda Govinda ani Koluvare) mesmerised the audience, followed by thestudents of Arunima Kumar Dance Academy who rendered “Muddugaare Yashoda” and captivating performances by Sushma Pramodh – Kuchipudi – “ Okapari Kokapari” and Ranjita Chowalloor(Dolayam, Annamacharya). A special feature of the dance events was by a 12 year boy from India,Vyamajala Ketan Sarma, who performed in Kuchipudi style -Annamacharya Kirtana Adivo Alladivo Sriharivasamu . Mrs.Veena Pani, a classical exponent of Carnatic music sang the Tyagaraja Kriti -Tera teeyaga Radaand the Annamacharya Kriti – Ekkadi Maanusha Janmamu . The other singers were Ms VaishnaviDokka and Tanvi Sattiraju and students of the well-known teacher Shruti Sriram.The event ended with a Mangalam by all the singers and Aarti by the Chief priest of the Temple.
The event was organised by Mr Prabhakar & Mrs. Geetha Kaza. Program sponsors were State Bankof India and Shahnaz International. The event was efficiently anchored by Bhanu Sistla.
