Flag-hoisting ceremony, thought provoking speeches and patriotic songs marked the Independence Day celebrations at Maharashtra Mandal London. An audio-visual clipping on Indian independence was first shown, followed by the flag-hoisting ceremony.
Welcome address was given by Sushil Rapatwar during which he highlighted that patriotism may not be confined to celebrating national occasions and suggested that social media can be used to improve socio-political issues in the changing times. Pracharak and Guest of Honour Shri Chandrakant Sharma and President has delivered an absorbing speech.
Addressing the audience, CK Sharma asks to delve deeper into one’s conscience to understand where the unity lies and pointed that lack of solidarity has always led to problems, citing historical examples. Trustees Dr Mahadeo Bhide and Mrs Madhavi Amdekar presented shawl thanking him for his participation.
Interesting patriotic songs were rendered by Shweta Dhall, Vinutha Bhat, Kshipra Kulkarni, Ritika Acharya, Dr Ashwini Pande, Aishwarya Pande Ragasudha Vinjamuri, Palak Kamdar and Sirisha Jammi. The program concluded with the rendition of national song Vande Mataram.
