Members from several prominent Islamic organisations attended the 8th annual general meeting of the Malayalee Muslim Cultural & Welfare Association UK….reports Asian Lite News
A Muslim forum unite various Islamic organisations spread across the country to work together for the welfare of the community. The 8th annual general body meeting of Malayalee Muslim Cultural & Welfare Association UK at Whitechapel, London, become historic because of the participation of 600 plus audience and prominent Islamic scholars and leaders from different organisations.
Janab T Arif Ali, General Secretary of Human Welfare Foundation of India, was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the topic of “Our Family, Janab Ali stressed importance of taking care of our elderly parents, and warned it is a big sin to ignore our parents.
First Secretary of Indian High Commission in London, Mr Vizay Vasantha and Ex-Mayor and current Councillor of Croydon Mrs.Manju Shahul Hameed were also attended. In his welcome speech, MMWCA Secretary Dr Maktoum Azeez briefly updated MMCWA’s activities and aims. Dr Azeez also presented Chief Guest with a memento from MMCWA.
During the session “Community In Focus” representatives from different organisations within the British Malayalee Muslim Community were invited for briefly introducing their activities. Abdul Azeez EV (Al-Ihsaan Da’wa Cell), Kareem Darulhuda (Samastha London), Dr Riaz Abdulla (KAMP), Mohammed Shajin (EMMMA), Safeer (KMCC), Moosan Marakkar (LUMMA) and Abdul Azeez Vengara (Strive UK) addressed audience. The participants assured their full support to MMCWA in its charitable activities and assisting MMWCA as an Umbrella Organisation of the entire community.
“Community in Focus” session also included recognising services of senior members from the Community. Six senior members were selected for their support to MMCWA over the years since it’s origin in 2004. Saeed Ali Kutty, Haji Abdulla Rahiman (current MMCWA Chairman), Dr A N Kannu, Mohammed Muthuvadan, Kunhi Mohammed Haji and Ali Thanathuparambil were presented with MMCWA’s certificate of appreciation and a special personalised trophy by Chief Guest T Arif Ali in the presence of MMCWA Trustees Rafeek, Abdulla, Shanawas, Mohammed Ali and Mohammed Yousuf (Past Trustee).
Apart from Children’s individual cultural activities (Quran Recitation, Talks, Skits, Songs etc.), Group events incorporating various Mappila cultural dance forms from Malabar (Oppana, Kolkkali, Mappilappattu etc.) were highly welcomed and enjoyed by everyone. Kids from different parts of UK participated representing regional groups within the Community. Men from Luton Community (LUMMA) enthralled everyone with their Kolkkali performance. Sumptous Malabari traditional food was served for dinner. There were stalls selling Malabar snacks and drinks, perfume, books etc.
