Award-winning chef and food writer Mary-Ellen McTague, sustainable food pioneer Vincent Walsh and the Fazenda restaurant group founder Tomas Maunier are just three of the participants in a special edition of Central Library’s ‘Inspiring Entrepreneurs’ programme of talks…reports Asian Lite News.
The free event, on Wednesday 16 September (6 – 8pm), will also feature David Fox from the restaurant group Tampopo and Carla Tomlinson, from MediaCityUK-based catering empire Penelope’s Kitchen, says Manchester Council Press relase.
Over two hours, the audience will hear a wide range of stories from the panellists, who will offer key insights about what it takes to make it in the highly competitive and demanding food and drink industry.
Attendees will also be able to ask the experts for advice, hints and tips about their own business idea during a Q&A session at the end.
The aim of the event, held in partnership with Manchester Food & Drink Festival, is to encourage and inspire people to think about launching or expanding their own food-based business.
The event will also be streamed live online at www.manchester.gov.uk/recipeforsuccess, for those who
can’t attend in person.
Cllr Rosa Battle, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure said: “We have already held a number of Inspiring Entrepreneurs events at libraries across Manchester and they have been really popular with audiences keen to learn first-hand from people who have made it in business – often having overcome many challenges in the process.
“The amazing line-up of experts for this special food-themed version, together with the huge amount of interest there is in Manchester’s rapidly expanding food and drink sector, will make this a perfect evening of practical insights, shared expertise and inspirational ideas, for all of our budding local restaurateurs, food retailers and producers.”
In addition to the panel of experts, staff from Central Library’s Business & IP Centre and Manchester Markets will be on hand to help audience members with questions about starting or running their own business.
