Mohan Nadaar choses UK to shoot Marathi film 36 Gunn

Marathi films will be nailed deeper on the global map with upcoming films like ‘’36 Gunn’’-   Gunn being shot on international locations like London and Scotland. With Producers Like Mohan Nadaar and powerful actors like Santosh Juwekar in the lead, this film will not just make the producer go laughing to the banks but will make Mohan Nadaar a formidable producer to reckon with.

Written and scripted by young talented Hrishikesh Vishwanath Koli, directed by Sammit Kakkad and with Purva Pawar in the female lead, iconic locations in UK will add the necessary flavour to the film’s modern subject, contemporary theme based on marital relationships. Prasad works as a DOP on the film with London based Parag Sankhe as line producer and Vaishali Karanjkar have been appointed as Associate Producer of the film.

Santosh Juwekar is not just a producer and director’s delight; this artiste is extremely humble modest and goes well into the skin of the character. He will come as a surprise to the audience watching him play a distinctly different role of a married man coping to understand his screen wife who hails from Goa who is flamboyant and lives with a 360-degree distinct perspective towards marriage from her husband. Despite the fact their horoscopes are matched and although traditionally when they meet 36 Gunn (marks) considered to be the best match their real-life story is different. Their journey of marriage with all its ups and downs of which their trip to UK on their honeymoon becomes a life changer making the story engaging and different and relatable to young couples.

Asked as to why London. Mohan said, ‘’With an office base in London and with a team of professional line producers, being a regular cinema equipment supplier and other facilities, London was a natural choice. ‘’ Furthermore, Mohan added, the script demanded ‘’as the couple are on their honeymoon in the film and they chose London as the female protagonist has studied her.’’ ‘’We were keen to show all London icons, capture the landscape of Scotland and the beautiful Christmas celebrations and New Year in UK. Shooting at Hyde Park and on High Streets of Central London and interiors of Scotland being captured in an authentic way by the director Sammit Kakkad will give an edge to the film added Mohan.They are covering close to 50 Iconic structures and locations of Uk. Some portions of the film will be shot also in Goa that lends further authenticity to the character. .

With offices in various parts of the world, Mohan opened his office in the prime London’s film production hub – Pinewood Studios. Passion for cinema production and with a background of film related technical goods supplier it was natural to do forward integration and get involved in film production as a producer.

‘’We are a production house, producing main stream Bollywood as well Regional films. Our company is also one of the oldest trading and rental houses dealing cinematographic equipment with an office in London, Los Angeles, Hong Kong,Bulgaria and Poland as well for production and promoting shooting of Indian Films. We are the only company in India which has touched a turnover of $4 million in sale of used and refurbished film lenses.’’

Mohan’s London based The Bees Production Ltd which is part of The Production Headquarters has specific plans to make UK as a production base for various films states Mohan.

His much- awaited Marathi film Ti ani Ti directed by Mrinal Kulkarni was shot in London and is slated for 1st March 2019 release.  ‘’The posters of the film have grabbed attention,’’ Mohan says with confidence and ‘’this will be a success at Box Office,’’ he states confidently. His business acumen makes him believe that a good script with sensible direction will always draw crowds to theatres.

Horror films excite Mohan and he co-produced 1921 in this genre. A comedy film Guest was produced by Mohan in London.  Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana as a producer, A Death in the Gunj and Manjhi: The Mountain Man as a consulting producer all received rave reviews and kindled the faith in Mohan to sustain as a full-fledged producer. Koyi Jane naa and Aadat were produced by Mohan for T series with Mika Singh as a co-producer.

Mohan is here to stay as producer. He has drawn up plans to build his own studio set up in UK and India which allows him to produce films in both countries at regular intervals.

When asked about his immediate future, he modestly says, ‘‘I have 8 films for 2019 in different languages produced soon. English, Hindi, Tamil and Marathi are languages i I am looking forward to produce. Scripts are good. With good able directors these projects will hit the floors from March onwards’’
