Britain’s House of Parliament hosts a Music Healing Symposium …. reports Asian Lite News
A Symposium on Music Healing was hosted recently at the Houses of Parliament by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Indian Traditional Sciences. It was presided by Bob Blackman MP and Lord Stone and was kick-started with a welcome and an introduction by Amarjeet S Bhamra, who quoted from Vedas that Music includes the practice of Vocal, Instrumental music and Dance- “Geetam Vadyam, Nrutyam Trayam, Sangeetam Uchyate”.
Speakers on the occasion included distinguished Sitar maestro Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE, Ayurved Ratan Dr Shantha Godagama, Jay Vishvadeva of Soma Arts, Dhruv Chhatralia, author of 19 books on Hinduism, Dr Abhijit Shinde, Managing Director of AyuSpa and Satish Sharma, Secretary of National Council of Hindu Temples.
They all presented stimulating talks and scientific findings on music healing and how sound has been used for treating disorders like kidney stones, tumours etc. and how the western Complementary and Alternative Medical practitioners also practise music therapy. Over a hundred guests in attendance were mesmerised by an inspirational dance presentation by Ragasudha Vinjamuri, Santoor recital by Kiranjyot Kaur and Ekraj Singh and vocal recital by Deepa Nair. Sarab Dogra accompanied the artistes on Tabla. Ravi Sharma concluded the Symposium with vote of thanks. CPD Credit certificates were issued to the guests by the Principal of College of Ayurveda UK Dr Athique.
