Nadiya Hussain won the the 6th Great British Bake Off competition….reports Asian Lite News
Nadiya Hussain from Leeds won this year’s Great British Bake Off.
Nadiya, 30, mother of three, baked a “big fat British wedding cake” adorned with jewels from her own wedding day as the showstopper in Wednesday’s final.
Ian Cumming faltered when he forgot to add sugar to the dough of his spiced buns for the signature bake. Tamal Ray struggled when the creme patissiere for his toffee and marmalade iced buns failed to set in time.
Nadiya has been baking for 10 years after wondering why her father only served ice cream for dessert at his restaurant. Her family is originally from Bangladesh, where desserts aren’t a big feature of mealtimes, but encouraged by a school home economics teacher, Nadiya now delivers beautiful masterpieces at family occasions.
Born in Luton, she now lives in Leeds with her husband and is full time mum to their three children. Having put her career on the backburner to devote her life to her family, with their support she now feels inspired to have her own adventure – and make them proud.
Nadiya thanked her family especially dad for the support on her Bake Off experience: “My dad has loved the series and he goes up and down the street each Wednesday making sure everyone is going to watch it.”
