Priti Patel MP, the Prime Minister’s UK-India Diaspora Champion, has spoken of the contribution made by Hindus and Indians living in the UK while visiting Leicester’s BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir for Diwali . Priti was joined at the Mandir by Leicester East’s Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Kishan Devani and met with local community leaders and volunteers. Priti said:

“Leicester always puts on a fantastic celebration for Diwali and I was delighted to be able to visit this year. Hindus and Indians in the Midlands have a rich heritage we can be proud of and have made an enormous contribution to British society.”

“During Diwali as we reflect on the year that has past we can also celebrate the tremendous and ongoing contribution made by the Indian Diaspora. Here in Leicester there is a vibrant and dynamic Indian community that makes a positive contribution in all walks of life, including, healthcare, education, law, business, sport and politics.”

“The Mandir in Leicester attracts Hindus from across the Midlands and I wish everyone a Happy Diwali.”
