Juggling through the weekend activities – my phone rang with pleasant surprise from Asianlite. The lady on the other end confirmed that my entry into their lucky draw has won me two tickets to Sonu Nigam’s “Klose to Heart” show at Wembley SSE arena on Sunday.

First few seconds – I could not believe my eyes but the next minute – I was already lost into some of the wonderful numbers of Sonu Nigam.

As such, I am a great admirer of Sonu Nigam and his immense talent coupled with creativity, command, versatility and wonderful presentation skills. Even a small clip of his performance is a favourite mood booster for many of us.

Reaching SSDE Arena, the overwhelming hospitality in the VIP lounge and provision of probably two of the best seats in the auditorium for me and my wife Deepa was nothing but a pure delight and there could not have been any better way to experience this musical extravaganza! The music still is lingering on my mind as I write these lines.

A  crowd of about  15000 people drenched  into the mesmerising music – swinging and swaying in line with the changing emotions of the numbers being presented by Sonu.

Dedicating his career debut song “Kya hua tera vada” to his beloved mother brought tears into so many eyes across the auditorium. He also paid tribute to two great Gazal legends – Ustad Mehdi Hasan singing the evergreen gazal Ranjish Hi Sahi and Jajit Singh sahib’s  Hothon se choo lo tum. The songs “Kal ho na ho” and  “ Tumko paya hai to jaise khoya hai” was a real stirrer. The concluding “Khushiyaan choom loon..Ya ro loon zara…Marr jaaun ya jee loon zara” was  the climax of this blissful evening.

Myself being into performing music – I very well know what’s the true joy of watching / listening to a star performer from close quarters and this was one such unforgettable show – with the kind courtesy of Asian Lite.
