Soho Theatre in association with Comedy Wagon present the rising star of Indian standup comedy Sumit Anand’s latest show Nothing About Godzilla from September 2, Monday to September 7, Saturday.
Having flown into the comedy scene five years ago, Sumit has looked back many times ever since. Every time he thought of quitting comedy to fail as a musician, somebody would book him. Eventually, he would like to fail as a magician.
Sumit’s stand up explores his daily life – daydreaming, growing up in a village in India and thinking it’s a town, and, of course, polar bears.
Sumit regularly gigs in New Delhi and Mumbai amongst other Indian cities. He makes his Edinburgh
Festival Fringe debut with Nothing About Godzilla, following a run of the show at the Melbourne
International Comedy Festival (MICF) and a 10 date, nationwide Indian tour in June 2019.
He made his UK debut at Soho Theatre in July 2018, sharing a bill with Karunesh Talwar in the Cabaret bar. The run was a critical hit receiving praise from the Metro and the Evening Standard. He previously performed stand-up in Malaysia and Singapore and at the MICF 2017.
In the last decade, the growth of stand-up comedy in India has been stratospheric, and Sumit is one of the finest comedians on the ever-growing Indian comedy scene. Sumit’s show marks the third time Soho Theatre has joined forces with the Indian production company Comedy Wagon, following their collaborations on Sumit’s 2018 Soho Theatre run and Lauren Pattinson and Ahir Shah’s Tour of India in 2017.
