Lloyd, the former Manchester Central MP, has been chosen to contest the seat after Simon Danczuk was barred from contesting it for Labour. Tony is quite popular among the Asian voters and they fondly called him Tony Bhai.
His candidacy will consolidate Labour votes in the former mill town which was riddled with various social issues. Tony along with his close comrade Afzal Khan, who got great influence among the Pakistani voters in the constituency, will ensure the Labour victory in the seat.
The siting MP Simon Danczuk has been suspended by the Labour party since he was discovered sexting a 17 year old girl and after being blocked from the Labour ticket decided to resign his membership. He is also facing allegations of rape by a woman in London. Danczuk posted a 12,442 majority in 2015.
