University of Bradford honours Sheikha Fatima, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union….reports Asian Lite News
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has been awarded an honorary PhD by the University of Bradford in recognition of her efforts in women’s empowerment at the domestic, regional and international levels.
The honorary certificate was presented to Noura Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the General Women’s Union, by the vice president of the university.
Al Suwaidi noted that Sheikha Fatima is the pioneer of women’s action in the UAE and that her support empowered the General Women’s Union to make achievements over the past decades.
The awarding ceremony was organised by Abu Dhabi Police under the patronage of Commander-in-Chief Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi.
Al Rumaithi said that UAE women’s achievements were made possible thanks to the support being extended by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.
Guided by the vision of the Mother of the Nation, Abu Dhabi Police provides good opportunities and a favourable work atmosphere to policewomen to support their professional development, he noted.
Major Amna Mohammed Khamis Al Bloushi, Chairwoman of the Emirates Women Police Association (EWPA), officers and wives of diplomats attended the ceremony.
Al Bloushi noted that Sheikha Fatima ensured that women’s development should not be dissociated from family development.
She said honouring the Mother of the Nation is an honour for all Emirati women.
Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has congratulated H.H Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, on the occasion of Mother’s Day.
Emirati women and men are proud of our beloved mother, H.H SheikhaFatma bint Mubarak, and the occasion of Mother’s Day can best be used to express our love, appreciation and loyalty to the Mother of the Nation, Al Qubaisi noted in a statement.
Sheikha Fatima, along with the founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, had set a great example for future generations, she said while highlighting the fact that the women’s leader also contributed to bringing up a great generation of men and women who follow the example of their forefathers.
Al Qubaisi also highlighted the support being extended by Sheikha Fatima to initiatives to advance women’s empowerment and back sustainable development in the country.
