“I would like to send warm wishes to all those celebrating Vaisakhi this year. This auspicious festival symbolises joy, zeal and new beginnings,” said Liberal Democrat Leader Tim Farron MP.   “The vibrancy and energy of festivals like Vaisakhi bring people together in celebration and they are a reminder of the values of diversity within our country.

“I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the invaluable and ongoing contributions of Sikh and Hindu communities to British society; your achievements and accomplishments are to be celebrated.  That is why I am proud to lead a party that is passionate about keeping this country is open, tolerant and united.

“This is a time for us to reflect  on the importance of community, our duty to speak out against injustice and to defend those who cannot defend themselves.

“So, whether you’re taking part in a Vaisakhi procession, spending time with family or going to your local Gurdwara, I hope your celebrations are a source of happiness and togetherness. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful Vaisakhi!”
