The Bangladeshi Assistant High Commissioner Mrs Ferdousi Shahriar came to Colwyn Bay Town Council to pay a courtesy visit to the Bengali Speaking Mayor of Colwyn Bay, Councillor Sibani Roy and to meet up with other Councillors and staff of the Town Council.

The Mayor hosted a civic reception and dinner in honour of the visitor. Several local dignitaries including other Mayors, AMs, MP, and High Sheriff, Mr Don Saunders Chairman of the Colwyn Bay Civic Society, Mr Jullian Sandinghan, Deputy Crime and Police Commissioner were present.

Clwyd High Sheriff Mrs Janet P Evans formally welcomed Mrs Shahriar and shared her fond memories of a Bangladeshi gentleman she studied with.

Goodwill was exchanged between Bangladesh and Wales with possibilities of collaborative projects in future.  All guests thoroughly enjoyed a solo performance by local Soprano Sian Roberts from Rhos on Sea.

All guest enjoyed the warm reception at the Town Hall as well as the delicious Indian buffet at the Venue Clock House owned By a Former Mayor Cllr Abdul Khan. Mr Bryan George, PA to Rt. Hon. Mr David Jones MP acted as the Master of Ceremony for both parts of the event.
