A commemoration ceremony will be held at Memorial Gates, Constitution Hill on 14th March on the occasion of Commonwealth Day. Baroness Shreela Flather, JP DL will welcome the gathering and will deliver the introductory speech.
The focus of this commemoration will be the engagement at Gallipoli in 1915-16. On this occasion there will be representatives of the Light Cavalry of the Honourable Artillery Company, a contingent of serving soldiers whose families come from several Commonwealth nations.
The gathering will be addressed by Rt Revd, Rt Hon the Lord Bishop of London. Guest Speakers on the memorable occasion include Rt Hon John Whittingdale, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and Rt Hon Baroness Scotland QC, Secretary General of the Commonwealth.
One minute’s silence will be observed thereafter which will be followed by music and the laying of wreaths. Wreaths will be laid by special dignitaries and representatives from countries commemorated on the memorial. There will be a musical input from the Coldstream Guards Band.
